Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC)

The mission of Greater Phoenix Economic Council is to attract and grow quality businesses, and advocate for Greater Phoenix’s competitiveness.

Established in 1989, the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) actively works to attract and grow quality businesses and advocate for the competitiveness of Greater Phoenix. As the regional economic development organization, GPEC works with 22 member communities, Maricopa County and more than 190 private investors to accomplish its mission, and serve as a strategic partner to companies across the world as they expand or relocate.

On March 2, we are excited to welcome Chris Camacho, GPEC’s President & CEO. Chris will give us a brief history of GPEC and share how they overcame the obstacles they faced along the way. He will also discuss the changing market and observations for the future.

Chris’s professional accolades are too long to list. Most recently, Chris was named in Arizona Capitol Times's 2022 Leaders of the Year for his work advancing Greater Phoenix's manufacturing industry. As chief executive, he has been instrumental in the region’s technology and advanced manufacturing sector growth and led the attraction of more than 515 companies during his tenure, creating more than 95,000 jobs and $26.6 billion in capital investment. Some notable projects include TSMC, Apple, Silicon Valley Bank, Microsoft, GoDaddy, Yelp, Amazon, Garmin, General Motors, ElectraMeccanica, Zoom, HelloFresh, and headquarters including Benchmark Electronics, Carlisle Companies and Rogers Corporation.
